These have many names, I know them as folding hammers, you can make one from an ordinary hammer with a head similar to the one you have, just by cutting off the handle. you may have to re-shape the face to be slightly rounded, but it can be a cheap alternative if you get it second hand.

Re: Looking for...
Thanks guys. I actually found Osborne's catalog about 20:00 last night. All I need now is a UK supplier :-)
Re: Looking for...
John,
Since you are in the UK, I'd look for a Barnsley/ Woodware. The person who has been reselling for them here lists it as a closer or a paste hammer.

As Erick notes, Woodware Repetitions/Barnsley sells them. Give Andrew Barnsley a phone call. 0114 272 6060

Just an up-date about Barnsley tools. Andrew Barnsley has not been involved with the Barnsley operation for over four years. The suppliers of Barnsley tools are now:-
Woodware Repetitions Ltd.
47 Mowbray Street
Sheffield
S3 8EN
tel: 0114 2726060
The man to speak to is Colin Barnsley (Managing Director) who is Andrew’s cousin.
For information, the tool you are looking for is called a Closing Hammer in the UK.
John - Do feel free to telephone me direct here in the UK, if you feel it would be helpful . My number is 01706 211181.

Oops, thanks for the correction Frank. I've spoken with and ordered from Colin, so it's embarrassing to have put Andrew's name in there by mistake.

Re: Looking for...
Hi everyone,
I am looking for a source for plantation crepe within the European Union (e.g. UK or Germany). I would need it for outsoles, and preferable very thin, something like 3 mm.
I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

Anu,
I'm not going to be much help since I am in the States, but welcome anyway. i hope you get some replies, either publicly or privately.
Either way, enjoy the board...hopefully we can help each other in other ways as well.

The only maker of true crepe in the U.S. is Shreiner I will try to get you some contact info tomorow. They may have a European distributor. Frank Jones might know some others across the pond.

Thanks, Tom. I would appreciate that.
I know there are companies in the UK that use what I am looking for. I just don't know where they get it...

Re: Looking for...
Thanks!
I will call and ask if they have a distributor in Europe. Shipping + taxes would be way too much from the US, I bet.
Still hoping someone would know of a source for plantation crepe in Europe.

Re: Looking for...
Does anyone have a manual with how to use, the machine institutions and technical information of an Adler 105-64 heavy duty arm machine which you can email to me?
What I am looking for I can not find in the Netherlands nor at the website of Adler-Dürkopp.

Apologies for not replying sooner. Just been very busy.
You asked about sourcing crepe preferably in UK or Germany. Two suggestions for sources in the UK.

New Malden
KT3 4BH
0208 9421979
2) This is a major orthopaedic supplier in Liverpool :-
Algeoes - www.algoes.co.uk
Do let us know how successful you are.

Re: Looking for...
I'm getting ready to order boot boxes for shipping boots. The boxes are 18x14x6 inches. They're tuck and fold corrugated cardboard boxes, the outside is white and the inside is cardboard brown. I have to place a large order and could sell them in smaller quantities. I could bring your order to the Boot and Saddlemaker's Roundup in Texas or ship them. Shipping would cost extra. Contact me for pricing.

Funny you should mention it. In my fuzzy brain, I remember talking with someone the other day, and they mentioned Gum Tragecanth. I believe it was Edwin Hale. Might be worth a call or email to see what he has.
