The Gallery

This is a photo gallery for members of the forum. Here you can share photos of your latest work for members to view. Like an Art gallery, however, where the exhibits come and go, photos will be deleted on a regular basis to save room on the server. Beauty, like Art, is fleeting.

Salvete

More Roman boots, these have been described as being either cavalry or officers boots. The uppers are made from veg tanned goat skin with the flesh side out. The lining is wool flannel. The uppers are stitched to the insole using tunnel stitching. These are my first attempt at lasted shoe making. I shaped the lasts from 2x6 pine using a circular sander. Attempts to modify modern lasts failed. Examples have been found both in Germany and in Egypt and they date from the 1st century.

Thanks Mac and everyone!

I just post here the special pieces I make. The sole actually was what you helped me to make. Thanks for that! (I found my grandpa's old tool, which could be a scraper - at least I use it for that)

Here's a pair that came off of the bench looking fun enough to spend a few bucks with my professional photographer.

The customer provided a Christmas ornament as design inspiration.

I really enjoyed the blend of rich brown softee water buffalo, cream roo and red piping and trim.

Splitting the saguaro cactus wasn't too much of a challenge. Mostly just a little forethought and care. But it made for a different approach for me.

Here's a pair I just finished...significant only because of the colours and the way they work together...

This is a pair I made for a lawyer. Fortunately he was happy with them. Actually, he's one of my nicest customers. He helped me design these.

This lady combined a couple of my designs and used colors I never would have chosen. The boots turned out well though and she was happy. This boot has a "B" and the other one has an "L".

This was only my second pair of triads and I made the first one about 6 years ago. I was kind of nervous but they went well and I've just finished my third pair.

Here are some recently completed dance shoes. Chocolate burnishable buffalo and perforated cow.

They have a gem welt (I think that is what this fake welt stuff is called) and suede bottom. Insole is ProZorb Poron over insole shoulder leather.

Slightly different bottom and waist finish.
Box calf 1/4 inch sole ,bevelled waist etc.
Not my closing.
Seems like I make a lot of monkstyle shoes, just a coincidence.

Here's a couple shots of the boots my Danish students made. She was really very skilled and competent. Her stitching was impeccable and she made some nice looking and very refined boots.
