Lisa,
I'm more of a spectator on the funnel cakes. Sure wish they could still sell the fresh apple butter though instead of just the stuff they bring in the jars.

Lisa.
Don't ever take the American out of the title. It's who you are and where you live. I just wanted clarification on if it was a borders open competition. We get left out of allot of contests up here because of border limitations and the internet has no borders at all.

Re: Announcements
I just received my application form from Silver Dollar City. I've already filled it out and will be mailing it today. I had a couple of questions about the form though, and I thought others might have the same questions, so I called and asked.
There were originally supposed to be two forms--the application form and a form to be sent after your application was received. This second form would give the deadline for the boots to be completed and shipped, and it would ask for information about the boots you've sent such as price and description. Somehow these two forms were combined.
First, the application that you've received asks for boot price. That's not necessary right now--I'm not even sure of mine yet because I haven't built the boots!
Second, above the categories it says "circle one" but you can enter multiple categories. You'll need to "circle one" when you send the actual boots in so they'll know which category it belongs in.
Third, at the bottom it asks for you to give a boot description and "send this form with your completed boots." Again, no description is needed yet. You'll be sent this form again after your entry fee has been received. This time you'll fill out price and description and return it by August 31 with your completed boots.

Lisa,
I got my application today. Thank you for the amendments you provided in the previous post.
One question though. Why is the SS# requested? Is it necessary?

Re: Announcements
Paul,
Good question--I asked that one too because I hate giving out my SS#. If you win one of the contest categories, any award money will be paid out through SDC. They need your SS# to report that they paid you money. So you really only need to give it if you plan on winning an award.

Re: Announcements
All,
Just a reminder of the Silver Dollar City boot contest for anyone who's planning to participate...The deadline for completing and shipping your boots for the contest is August 31. Boots should still be shipped to the address given for Ben Hilton. Ben has been working in Texas and can't always be reached at the phone number given for him in the contest information. However, his home address remains the same and boots should still be shipped to him.

Re: Announcements
Hi Shane,
It looks great. The slide show was a bit slow to download but I'm not on broardband so I guess that's why.
Well layed out though and it's easy to navigate. Once the boots and saddles load they look good.
More power to y'awl

Re: Announcements
Glad to see the colloquy is back up. It's been to quiet here for the last couple of days. Many thanks to the people behind the scene that make it all work so well.
Hope to see you all this weekend in Williamsburg

WOOHOOO,
Excellent work DW et.al. Like Robert says, it sure has been quiet.
I was scared she'd sucked a big Kumara and was gone for good.
DW hope the book launch is an unmitigated success. What am I saying! that'd have to be a given.

Gang,
A deeep tip of the hat goes to Dee-Dubb for working behind the scenes.
I don't know what we would do without him!
Thanks D.W.

Re: Announcements
Happy New Year to you all!
In the process of rebuilding my ASN, and making some crimping screws along with the other work that a saddler/treemaker/leatherworker/bootmaker (not necessarily in that order!
) does here, so I've had my head down and bum up.
Thanks for the stimulating, interesting, and thought provoking contributions you've made to the CC over this last year.
I hope this year is as good for you as you want it to be.
More power to y'awl.
