This my first pair of "Full Wellingtons" Paul, I have followed your progress from pair to pair and I hope my next pair turns out as well as yours did. I must appologise for the leather and the sag. I used a very soft leather to be able to get the "Cruel" stretch. I failed with my first stretch/crimping attempt. Next pair will be more professionally built.:
9520.jpg

The single sole is fully pegged and the heel stack is a bit full. The builder built then for himself and he stands 6 ft. 3 inches tall and weighs 370 pounds. A bit more heel mass to support the seight. I know, I know!

There is a peg or two that ended up in the heel stack and somehow there is an optical illusion that the leather for the back half is more full than the front half. They are both cut dead on' equeal. I think the next pair will have a wider front panel than the back to get a more even look. The top line is cut about a half an inch higher in the front but it appears like it is perhaps a "scoush" lower. Next pair will be raised at least an inch in the front panel.

I want to thank D.W. for his book that is loaded with excellent information and patterns. I am not sure he would claim me as a student after seeing this first pair, however, I promise the next pair will be more professionally built.

This last has been tweeked to the point that the fit is like "an old pair of house slippers."

Thank you for tolerating me,

It's been awhile since I posted what I've been doing, and I won't take up space in the Gallery with belts and such, but...

But I wanted to share three pair that have come off the bench so far this month.

This first black pair is my hammer toe customer, Nasser, Ostrich with Softee Buffalo tops;
9527.jpg

This next is the first buckaroo this year, Burgandy Taurus foot with Blue Calf tops, 14/8 heel, and buisness logo in fawn Roo;
9528.jpg

And this next one hasn't come back yet, so I don't have official word on how it did. I sent it to Sheridan Wy. for the boot division of the World Leather Debut.

It's Ecru Ostrich with Black French Calf tops. The Bone Roo collars have buffalo track cutouts. The image on the front is a tooled leather mural, intended to give draw attention to the White Buffalo, and the backs panels are decorated with tooling leather medicine wheel appliques, with leather eagle feathers attached. The FC pull horn ornaments, are of fossilized mammoth bone.

There already are instructions for posting images...

¬ right there in the left-hand frame, there is a rubric entitled "Formatting."

All kinds of useful information may be found not only in Formatting but in some of the other links as well. Image

Hello!

Finally, after ogling everyone else's work for months, I have something of my own to post.
9575.jpg

I made these beauties at the Koronya advanced shoemaking course in NYC. It was awesome. Actually, everything beautiful about them is due to Marcell, and only the mistakes are mine, but it was really hard and I'm proud of them!...Lots of leather, a little glue, some thread, a tiny bit of blood, and a whole lot of swearing...

I didn't take nearly enough pictures of the process, (which was fascinating and intricate) but here's one of my half-dug welting channel.

In August, I take the high heel class.
In September, I take over the world.

Here's a photo of a pair of boots just finished by my last student--Meryl Swartz. She did a pretty good job even though she had virtually no experience. The colour combinations were really striking although this photo doesn't capture the richness of the colours.

As promised...here are several photos of the pair of brogued oxfords I was working on for my wife-Randee. I am pretty happy with these...they are made on a modified 10/8's inch heel boot last.

Tan French calf and forest green kangaroo. Seams antiqued.

They were made what Thornton calls a silhouette construction--essentially a cement sole on a deep inseam/wide welt.

Got the topline good this time.

Here are a few pictures of my just-completed Adelaide-throat brogues. The last is one I made from the a last-blank. It is intended to be a fairly narrow round toe.

Hi All

Here's a pair of boots which I've been working on for awhile. It's a western style dress boots with zippers. The customer has some foot problems which will not allow him into a normal pair of cowboy boots. I had to modify the last a lot to fit the foot. This was my frist attempt to designing a boot like this. It's coffee water buffalo with an 1 5/8 heel with a wide round toe.

Here's a shoe that I just finished it was my first attempt at making a wing tip shoe. I used a one inch roper last that I had made up with a toe that was close to what I wanted to use. The leather was a soft cow which I think had to much stretch to it. But a good starting point.

First pair out of the shop Stateside. A long, long way to go. Not as easy without an Upper Maker and Master Shoe Maker at arms length. Burnished Buffalo from Garlin Nuemann. Critique welcome.
