Hey Y'all, Here is some pictures of my brogans. I'll have the originals back next week for comparison. Luckily the insides of them 1862 brogans are all old and cracked so I don't confues em, thats how close my copies are.

I just picked up pictures of some recent boots, so I'm gonna post them.
This boot has my first attempt at a fully carved toe. It needed some touch-up after I lasted it and did the toe, but this boot was actually easier to make than I thought it would be. Not easy, but not as bad as I was afraid it would be.

I made this pair for Dale. He didn't have a pair with a foot this color, so now he does!

These were my entry into a recent show. They didn't win, but I still like them.

Last one...this is a reasonably close reproduction of an old Hyer boot. I love the various leaf designs that were often on the Hyer boots.

Sean,

Here's another close up of Lisa's work. I want you to notice the balance of the tongue and quarter curves of this boot. Very, very nice and very hard to do!

This pair of boots was made with a black Horween foot and a really nice, soft olive green leather for the shaft of the boot. The square toe has a bit of a back angle, as well as the edges rounded off.

Couple pair I just finished..in the wake of a full year of students and a grandson, and AGM.

Those of you who were at AGM saw this pair of full wellingtons. Tongue in cheek, I call them "Opera Boots."
8210.jpg

And here is a pair I had in process for some time but couldn't seem to finish because something else kept coming up. They are not as spectacular as Lisa's triads but "bespoke" means you go with what the customer orders.

Black french calf, micro chisel toe, diamond stitch pattern.
I was able to get my tops a little crisper, but I still seem to fight that process a bit. The good news is my Landis K seems to have gotten the cooperation bug also!.....J.

Just finished my 2nd pair of boots. Just in time for the OU vs OSU game thanksgiving weekend. (we are out of class this next week) The orange vamps were left over leather from a pair of Pistol Pete's (OSU mascott for those who may not know) chaps that the school made.

Here's one of the pair I finished earlier this week.
8267.jpg

Ostrich vamps and tops, with my interpretation of what I might call a "Sorrell" toe, and a cuban heel. 11" tops on an old Krentler slip cone last. This is her fifth pair from me.

The lining is from Waterhouse Leather. It's a very soft 2-2.5 ounce veg tan. So in addition to full length side lings, I used a full length heel slide in the back, and a front stay between the front panel and lining to add a little body to the tops.

This pair also received a different effect to the insole.
8268.jpg

Although it is different than what Jake posted in our discussion a couple months ago now, I think it's more like what we saw hangin' in Lisa's shop at the AGM. It went together real well.

I hope, I won't be fired from the forum, because of this post..

So, not really a shoes - actually a mule, so doesn't count to be the highest peak of the profession.. but.. I am fed up with the cheap Chinese mules, what I bought until now. A few weeks ago I bought a pair in a mall, and it kept for 3 weeks. I thought: I am a shoemaker, I don't buy shoes - why I don't make a slipper for myself? So I did. I must say, this work is nothing, comparing even with the cemented technology. No last needed for it. Now I have a very comfortable, hot slipper for home from flece. (and if someone interested I can make a step by step guide how to make it - it is perfect for beginners).

Just finishing these buckle shoes (no buckle because the customer must fit it to his foot).

These are my "18th century moderns"--meaning I have tried to bring together 18th century styling with modern techniques and materials. They are intended as a dress/formal shoe for people who wear kilts.

I "round closed" the dogleg seams on these shoes. It was interesting and kind of fun.

The leather is burnished buffalo from Garlin. I am always amazed at the versatility of this leather.

Hi All,

Haven't posted my work for awhile. I've been really busy and had to find some help. The frist boot is my frist attempt at a set of pulls from Wild Bill's design. The second pair is a working cowboy boot. The tops our GN burnished buffalo, with oiled bull hide from GN.
