Arthur,

That's not strictly true.

There are several code snippets that deal with opening hyperlinks. One of them--"newurl--opens the link in a new window.

Also, the Cowboys and Indians blog link opens fine in this window but does need scrolling to see the entire image/link.

That said, your advice to right click and open in a new tab is a good one.

Hmb Svt,

Sorry, I am constrained to 800 x 600 on this box and the Cowboys gets chopped to the right even with scroll. If I collapse the left box and exec the link it does appear in full.

Just FYI,

Art

Lisa:

I watched the PBS show, and I really enjoyed it. Congratulations on being profiled on a national show; not that you need it, but I'm sure it will drive new business your direction.

Chuck,
I have a YouTube channel where I post occasional demonstrations. It might not always be the technique you want to see but at least you'd see more of what I'm doing. Image

That address is www.youtube.com/customboots

To the Sorrell Family:
I wish to congratulate Dale and Lisa - not only on their successes with their respective trades, but the success with which they've raised their family.
I wish to congratulate Morgan and Paige on their ability to follow their interests and make them successful.
I'm also proud to be able to say "I know them. They're cool people!"

Lisa,
+ 1.

Also, I have found in old books that the apprentices not only had to learn making shoes they also had to learn how to sell them. I have learned through the years that it is often easier to make the stuff then to sell it. You have been realy succesfull not only to make your boots but also to introduce them to the market, congrats on both.

To those of you who occasionally politely ask when I'm EVER going to post the crimping video I showed at the AGM in Redmond...it's going to require a training session at the Apple store for me to learn how to edit videos. When I finally learn I will happily announce that the video is available.

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting a journalist from the Halifax daily newspaper. They spent an afternoon in the shop and prepared an article that made front page! They also shot some video for a profile of my business. I enjoy seeing the videos of the different shoe and boot shops that have been posted here, and hope that some of you will enjoy a look at mine.

Jon,

Good on you! You know an interview like that is worth literally thousands of dollars worth of advertising.

I never advertised in all the years I have been making. I relied on these kinds of personal interest stories...sometimes going so far as to "put a bug in the ear" of a local newspaper editor...and in the first year I was in business

I went from scratching for work to being backlogged over a year solely on the basis on one newspaper article. And all in the space of about eight weeks following the publication.

I never looked back.

Jon,

Very nice! I get excited every time I see someone receive this kind of well deserved attention. Good for you for following your heart! Hope your backlog goes from 6 months to years. Then you can raise your prices (big grin).

Your work definitely shows your devotion! Once again, congratulations!

Thanks everyone.

DW you're right I couldn't afford to produce advertising like this.

And I thought he was pretty accurate professionally as well as personally. I especially like the part in the article where he wrote "looks years younger than his real age".

Great article Nasser! I was unaware that you have an apprentice. I was hoping to meet you in Redmond last year. (We had a pretty good Canadian contingent) Are you going to this years HCC meeting in Vermont?

Sean,

Thank you,Every once in a while i take an apprentice,Tibere came to be a paid student, but because of his closeness to the shop and softness of my heart,I took him as an apprentice,He is proven worthy young man so far,he has survived some of my worst bad temper so far and i don't go easy on apprentices but not as bad as i had it.

I am hoping to make to Vermont this year, It is just cross the river from me.

Regards
Nasser
