The Honourable Cordwainers' Company
is pleased to announce the
34th Annual General Meeting
in cooperation with
The Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, Lancaster, PA
October 26-28 2018
We are looking forward to a great program at this year’s Thirty-fourth Annual General Meeting of the Honourable Cordwainers' Company, in cooperation with The Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum.
Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum is a 100-acre, open-air, living history museum in the heart of Lancaster County. Started in the 1920's by Henry K. and George D. Landis, the museum collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets two centuries of PA German life (from 1740-1940) in an authentic crossroads village comprised of 26 historic structures and the nation's largest collection of Pennsylvania German artifacts. Landis Valley is a nationally significant museum that incorporates costumed interpreters, animals, Pennsylvania German varieties of heirloom plants, and its massive collection in its ongoing mission to promote education, conduct ongoing research and host events for the benefit and enjoyment of visitors and the local community.

As a “class-reunion” of sorts for charter members, this lovely site nestled in rural Lancaster County was the site of the first HCC AGM in 1985. The county is also the “Antiques Capitol” of America, great tool-hunting and general antiquing abounds. It’s the heart of the Amish Country and home of fine country cooking.
The LVV&F Museum holds a vast collection of shoemaking tools. Our meeting will include a guided tour of the Collections Gallery (off limits to the public) where thousands of items are displayed and stored. We will have a behind the scenes tour focusing on shoemaking tools and supplies with one of the museum’s collections specialists.
Call For Papers—Those who wish to present an illustrated talk (Power Point), workshop, or hands-on demonstration are asked to contact Al Saguto dasaguto@widomaker.com This year’s theme will be ‘Shoes: Pacemakers of Progress’—nothing rigid, just a casual nudge—presentations should explore changes over time in shoe fashions, and shoemaking techniques, how we got to where we are today, and exactly where are we today?
HOTEL AND TRAVEL
Numerous nearby airports include: Lancaster Airport (LNS / KLNS) Harrisburg International Airport
(MDT / KMDT), Philadelphia International Airport (PHL / KPHL)
Group Hotel information will be coming soon, watch http://thehcc.org for more details.
