Thank you, Edie you too!

Yes DW. it really washed out, and felt very dry, but different.
But it plumped up and went away happy.

Thanks a lot guys!

Speaking of black on black, when DW saw these on my site he suggested I share them too.
These calf skin foot and milled veg top, into which I tooled the Squash Blossom Necklace. Colored with acrylics.

Enjoy,
Paul

A bunch of us went into a group buy from Goetz some years back. One of the tools I, and a few others, were looking for was a broguing punch that did the big perf at the same time as it punched the two smaller holes--three in one blow.

But I ended up tearing that tool apart and separating out the large punch from the paired smaller ones.

Point is--unless you have a broguing machine, most of us...well, some of us...more or less brogue by hand anyway.

I am rigourous about spacing, however. I want the hole pattern at the vamp point to be exactly in the center and exactly the same on both shoes and for all the other perfs to similarly be in exact locations despite the fact that the patterns for the medial side of a shoe may be different from the patterns for the lateral side. For that, you almost have to lay out the broguing sequences and frequencies in pattern paper before trying to do them in the leather.

Here's a pair of shoes I made. The top is one piece with a seam on the instep. These are fully pegged.

All nice work. I particularly like the negative space on the ostrich leg boots.

My first attempt at hand welting the sole. Used the same last as last time, with the same can't get it off issues, even with under the watchful eye of an experienced shoe maker so it has been binned..

Nice looking!

What is the leather?

Probably just as well to abandon the last if you're having that much trouble. Seems to have a little too much toe spring as well.

IMO...

Thank you Paul, Jake & DW. I like the negative space as well. My wife says I use to much of it sometimes. But I do love that stitch.
