With the full hood, I don't need the grid (which can be annoying). A slot at the front of my hood and one at the back plus limited opening in front does the trick without having to work on top of the grid.

Having said that, the grid is not all that bad. I just would place a piece of manilla file folder on top of it when I want a consistent flat surface.

Any idea what a old but functional Singer model 29 (patcher) is worth? There's one for sale in my area, but I'm not sure what a fair price would be.
It has the stand and treadle also.

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Regards,
-Nat
