Al,

Well, I know I will have at least two strikes against me (that you are an historian and that you are a Southerner [mind you I was raised in Missouri]) when I suggest that one of the best reads ever found was Guns of the South and the ensuing alternative history series that ends around 1940 by Harry Turtledove. I guess we're a bit OT here so I'll just say give it a chance... and let it go at that.

Thought those with an interest in riding boots would
enjoy this site that specializes in polo boots, including some beautiful street shoes and variations on the Western Boot.

The wooden boot trees are a thing of beauty.

Here's a tour of a couple of NorthHampton shoe factories...

Just thought some would like to see the various goings-on that occur there...Image

It's very interesting.

You are right it is an LM7 Bed Laster, just like the one that I have in my shop .Great machine its nice to see it used by some of the better makers .It also looks like they use a pullover machine as well for the pre lasting .Tom Mattimore has the one that I used in my shop both machines go a great job.when used properly.

Victor,

You might want to post this in "The Registry" and maybe post a photo of yourself and/or your shoes.

But either way, welcome to the Crispin Colloquy. It's always nice to have another bespoke maker contributing.

I am looking forward to seeing some examples of your work in The Gallery.

I finally have so many things in place -

website - www.simpleshoemaking.com
blog - www.simpleshoemaking.wordpress.com
etsy shop - etsy.com/shop/simpleshoemaking
facebook page - http://www.facebook....24556516?ref=hl

(twitter and linked in are going to have to wait - a looonnng time!)(my apologies to those of you who have read the same message on www.leatherworker.net)

- that I am ready to reach out and try to get people to read all of this stuff!

I have spent the last three years - since I was inspired to do so at the Convention in Sturbridge - putting shoemaking patterns I have accumulated into books - How to Make the Simplest Sandals, How to Make Simple Shoes for Women, How to Make Simple Shoes for Children, How to Make Simple Sandals, and How to Make Simple Moccasins, and making dvds to supplement them.

So if you are curious about stitch-down shoemaking, I invite you to take a look at one of my sites. Any comments would be enjoyed.
