Figured I would go ahead and post an image of the tools listed on eBay so you guys could decide more easily if it's something you would be interested in.

Re: Tools of the Trade

Hey guys..I have a pretty large lot of Geo Barnsley & Son (and a few other brands) of brand new tools (and a few used) that I am trying to unload. I have them listed on eBay (not sure if it's allowed to post the link). I bought them all from Edwin Hale and have just not had time to use them. I'm hon...

Re: Lasts

Daniel,

I was wondering if you heard anything regarding the GC-400 as I have also been interested in that last. It looks like a pretty versatile/modern shape. Would love to see some shoes made on it.

Re: Outsoles

DW, Gotcha. I have seen shoes with the stitching on the outsole exposed though. I think possibly their chukka boots on that website for example (can't remember). Is there any reasoning for that beyond aesthetics? As a matter of fact, I am pretty sure my cowboy boots have exposed stitching on the out...

Re: Outsoles

So, I may be posting this in the wrong place...if so, just let me know. This is far from a "traditional" derby, but I have seen this done in other more traditional shoes as well. Is there a reason, other than aesthetics, that the stitching channel is left open here on the outsole? http://www.johnvar...

Glenn, tried emailing you and got a delivery failure notification. Could you try emailing me directly? kevin.deleon at gmail .com (sorry, don't want my address getting crawled so I split it up a bit.)

Re: sewing machines

Glen,

Do you happen to have a link to a shop online that sells the Juki 441 clone you are referring to?

Re: sewing machines

Does anyone have any experience with the brand econosew? My wife is a fashion designer and is actually interested in buying a post bed machine for some of her more technical detailing, and that just happens to coincide with my need for one for sewing uppers! Thought I would see if anyone has any exp...

Re: Lasts

Nat,

Thanks so much. I looked on their site and didn't see anything in regards to lasts. Also, at this point I am mostly interested in shoe making, and it looks like they mostly deal in boot supplies (not to say there isn't any crossover). Do they shoe lasts as well?

Shoe Last Shop on eBay stores

Obviously they aren't custom, but might be good for people starting out? Still seems like JV might be the way to go considering you can send in measurements.

Re: Lasts

Anyone know if Allen is still the person to contact at JV? I'm just getting started in my adventure into custom shoe making, and trying to determine where to order my first pair of lasts.
