Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>Alright all you that were on the group buy for the German awls that have paid I got your awls mailed out today so hopefully they'll get to you by the end of the week. Special thanks to those that rounded up as the USPS website didn't give me a true price but was only off by about 5-10 cents, that...

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>Good news fellows, the group buy came in today. I have most of it packaged with the exception of an error in my math. I added up 5 short somehow so unless I've packaged some extra to somebody I'll get those 5 from my package when it gets here. <br/> <br/> I didn't get in tonight until almost 7:30...

Re: Inseaming Awls

Alright guys and gals. I finally received billing info from the man with the awls the other day and have paid him via paypal. I haven't yet received the email stating that the payment has been received or that the package has shipped but we should still be on. Once I get notice of shipment I'll send...

Re: New Ebay auctions

Here's something not seen everyday and this fellow has a few of them. Problem is he's in France and shipping isn't cheap, but 35euro or less for a last knife doesn't seem like a bad price to me. http://cgi.ebay.fr/n-7-outil-ancien-paroir-forge-de-sabotier-SOUEF-A-COUTRAS-/25 1187976770?pt=FR_JG_Art_...

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>I still haven't received an invoice from the man with the awls yet. He told me everything was still on last Friday but I haven't heard from him since. I was in a little bit of an accident on Sunday night so have been a bit preoccupied but will get back on top of this buy right away. <br/> <br/> B...

Re: New Ebay auctions

Yeah, I sent that link to somebody this morning. I'm wondering if they thought the price was high. This is only the second pair of crimping pincers I've seen in 1.5 years of watching eBay, though not all of that time have I watched it so thoroughly.

Re: Inseaming Awls

Cody this should help: http://buffaloprecision.com/data_sheets/DSO1TSbpp.pdf I would use clean oil, some people use synthetic since it doesn't burn at as high a temp. Used oil is considered a no no because of the impurities. As I remember the heat stated on that data sheet should be a bit above nonm...

Re: Inseaming Awls

All awls accounted for. If there is more interest I can ask about another box let me know ASAP and I'll get to it. Otherwise I messaged with the seller today and I should have the invoice soon.

Re: Inseaming Awls

Another 25 claimed, so 234 of 250 and still waiting for how many Eddie wants.

Wow I didn't think that all 250 would go quite that quick. I thought I'd be sitting on a box or so.

Re: New Ebay auctions

You can pretty much guarantee that if it's on eBay somewhere, looks good, and starts off at a good price I'm watching it.

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>Hi all sorry I didn't get back yesterday, I spent part of the afternoon up until about midnight in the hospital due to a head/neck injury from late November acting up badly. I'm going to list below the names of everybody that wanted some awls and how many. I hope you don't mind but this is about ...

Re: New Ebay auctions

I've been watching these. I'm really interested because this seller has a number of lasting pincers he's been selling the last few weeks. The most expensive pair he had that sold were these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-VGC-No4-Leatherworking-Cobblers-Pliers-Oval-HAD- Logo-Old-Tool-/230904629481?...

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>Ok everybody I've gone through the list of all the people that sent me messages wanting awls. I can't seem to shake the feeling that I'm missing somebody big. Right now I have 2 of 5 boxes accounted for and I thought somebody else wanted half a box. Then there are about 5 people that either haven...

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>I had to have a look at the drill rods, I couldn't stay away. Out of the two that are really in a decent price range the W1 is the better steel for an awl in my opinion. Manganese (Mn)imparts a lot of hardness and makes a metal a bit less flexible, thus more brittle. It can be harder to heat trea...

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>I'm not saying that the music wire can't be used but it will be harder to heat treat. Any metal that you buy you will want to have certain properties as to how much spring it can take before it will break. This will be imparted by the heat treatment and the alloy of the metal itself. <br/> <br/> ...

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>As I posted I received a message from the seller I can get 5 more boxes let me know what the interest is. It is a little bit more than I have on hand to just put out, sorry just bought tires for my truck. I will message him again and ask if he will ship directly to me if I buy 5 boxes and if he m...

Re: Inseaming Awls

<t>I realize now that I phrased my question wrong in how I put this out there. I meant it more to be for those that wanted to buy a box more so than to buy a box amongst us all. Anyhow between the responses here and the private messages and emails I could have bought all the boxes the man had and st...

Re: Inseaming Awls

Just found this on German ebay. I can help get a pack if there are any left for those interested and have my man in Germany mail them to me. I already purchased one and it came to just under $23 for 50. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Maeder-Flachahlen-Ahlen-70mm-in-alter-Originalverpackg-/3 21052411483?pt=A...
