The basic set up of this forum is quite simple although it may seem otherwise to those who are not familiar with discussion boards. Please explore! You can't break anything.
For those who have never previously used a forum, the place to start is in the left frame with "Getting Started" under the heading "Documentation." Here you can quickly familiarize yourself with the basic functions of the forum. Proceed to "Formatting," especially if you want to use italics or colors, or other special characters in your messages. (Standard html will work but the native formatting code is much more extensive.)
Although this board is open to the public, all users are encouraged to register--in the left frame, at the top, under "User Registration. After registering, I recommend that you edit your profile and enable email notification of "System Announcements" and "Open Forum," as this will make discussions easier to follow and allow Administration to keep you informed of changes to the board.
Established in the fall of 1998, the Crispin Colloquy has always aimed to be one of the most diverse and eventually, most comprehensive, sources of shoemaking information available...anywhere...in any format. To that end we have made a good start. There are literally thousands of posts on this forum, on almost any imaginable subject that concerns boot or shoemaking. Many of these discussions are archived but are still readily available. For the individual interested in learning more about bespoke shoe or boot making, these archives represent both an invaluable resource, and many pleasant hours of diversion.
